The workshop

We are based in Samoëns, a traditional village in the mountains of Haute-Savoie.

The first ride on your unique, hand made, custom bike will be special.

You can come and pick your bike up from our workshop.

Our workshop is on the edge of the forest.

Near the start of the mythical Col de Joux Plane road climb.

At the bottom of 1,000 vertical metres of singletrack heaven.

I have been building custom frames since 2016.

Why? Framebuilding is hard work and not very profitable.

Because of that dream. You know, that one that just refuses to die. 

I used to have a good job in the UK. An important sounding job title, a company credit card, overseas travel and medical insurance. Long lunches and an early finish on a Friday.   

But we dreamed of the mountains. And dreamed some more. And then we ran for them.
We chose to drop out of corporate life in return for bloody hands and scraped knees. For the dream of cold winters buried in snow, summers riding through clouds of dust and the rest of the year pedalling up and down big hills. We chose a house by the woods, with a view of dozens of summits.  

I started Selwyn Bicycles to build the best possible bikes. Bikes that do exactly what you want. That looks exactly how you want it to look. Bikes that do not exist in a catalogue. Bikes that you dream about.

I think a bike should be designed to allow you to do the things you dream about. The freedom to pack up and start pedalling without knowing your destination. The feeling of a flat out descent teetering on the limit of control. The head spinning, heart pumping rush of a big road climb.

Our dream rides are all slightly different. So why not have the perfect bike for your dream ride? It might not exist in a big brand’s catalogue of market segments and specific price points.  

But when you have a bike made just for you market segments and industry trends don’t matter.  

All that matters is you and how you want to ride.
